Introducing The Jazz Hours – the new stylish jazz quintet from Down for the Count, now available to hire for private events throughout the UK and internationally.
Fronted by incredible jazz vocalist Lydia Bell, The Jazz Hours is led by tenor saxophonist Alex Western-King – one of the UK's leading jazz musicians, often to be found directing jazz sessions at the world-famous Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club in Soho, London.
If you're looking for the after-hours, smoky jazz club feel, The Jazz Hours is the band for you. The musicians perform their own unique, beautiful original arrangements of the best jazz standards, bringing a true touch of class and sophistication to your event.
You can expect to hear songs such as ‘S Wonderful, Stardust, Too Close for Comfort and many more - and the band carefully tailor the mood of the set list to the atmosphere of your event. Whether you want subtle entertainment over dinner or livelier music over drinks, The Jazz Hours can adapt their set to suit your requirements.
The Jazz Hours is available in various line-ups. In the videos you can see the quintet version of the band featuring female vocals, tenor saxophone, upright bass, drums, and either piano or guitar.
The band can adapt the line-up from a duo (vocals and piano/guitar) up to a 7-piece band depending on your budget and the atmosphere you want to create. Please get in touch for more information.

Similar to The Lady Gatsby Jazz Band, this is a smaller line-up who perform sophisticated 1950s classics from the golden era of stage and screen.
Unlike Lady Gatsby, this is an instrumental band - it blends into the background of your event providing subtle, sophisticated background music.
A totally acoustic jazz band (unlike Lady Gatsby Jazz Band, which requires power). Alexander's Dixieland Band can roam around your venue entertaining guests wherever they happen to be.
Subtle and unobtrusive, a cocktail pianist is perfect for background jazz music during dinner. You could also book the cocktail pianist for a "warm up" set before The Lady Gatsby Jazz Band takes to the stage.
